Garden News
Sincere thanks to our Digger Man who dug in manure and dug out all the roots and stumps which we of the (broken) spade and shovel brigade could not defeat! The paving slabs, pebbles, timbers and top soil have been ordered and we will be all hands on deck soon. Would really welcome the imput of an experienced groundsperson who could advise me on laying the slabs. We have to put them down first so that the raised beds can fit snug to the paths. If any parents are interested in gettting muddy again or for the first time please let me know! Our care-taker Michael will be applying preservative to the timbers and painting them before they go down on the ground. Lorcan McMahon will do the cutting and making and then the rest of us can do the filling!! |
A huge go raibh míle maith agat to Daniel Keogh's dad Declan and his uncle Robert Richardson for the great work they did over the mid term on our raised beds. Now that the paving is going in things are beginning to really take shape! I'll keep you posted on the porgress. |

Sacramental Preparation
Blessington Parish has prepared a sacramental preparation program for the children making their First Holy Communion. The format is similar to the Do This in Memory of Me program used in other years and involves monthly themed masses for families to attend during the school year. The parish has also prepared a scrap book type work book which is being used in class in conjunction with the Alive O Program. All three classes attend Wednesday morning mass every second week. Please check with the class teacher to confirm when they will be there if you would like to be present. Feel free to contact Betty Murphy if you would like to get involved in preparing your child for First Holy Communion. Thank you to all the parents who attended our introduction evening in September. A list of all our pupils preparing for the sacrament is now on display in the church. Please see the schedule for Let The Children Come To Me below.

| Enrolment |
|
Any Parent/Guardian wishing to enrol a child is asked to complete an application form and provide a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate.
Please contact Bernadette at the office for a registration form or print out a copy from our Contacts page.
Letters have been issued to all being offered a place in our Junior Infants this September. If you have a younger child for enrolment in St. Mary's Junior School then please ensure that an application form is on file for them. Priority is always given to siblings but I can only figure out how many places are available to offer new families when I have an idea of how many siblings need to be accommodated first. Thank you for your co-operation. |

| MATHS WEEK |
| October 17th - 21st was our first ever Maths Week and it was a great success. Maths was integrated into every facet of the curriculum and children really enjoyed outdoor maths especially the Treasure Hunts! We also had beautiful displays of maths in art work and there were several new games in PE with maths focus. Nobody was safe..we all became a statistic of one shape or other and Data was everywhere. The week finished with a table quizes for firsts and seconds and winners was awarded certificates. Well done to all the teachers and children on a great and enjoyable weeks work and thanks to Ms. Higgins, Mrs. Gilbride and Ms. O'Regan for organising the events! Maths week will definitely be a feature in our school calendar from here on in! |
